Join us for an evening of discussion on the movement to include ecocide in Australian law with Dr Kellie Toole, Senior Lecturer from the University of Adelaide Law School.

Ecocide is defined as unlawful or wanton acts committed with knowledge that there is substantial likelihood of severe and either widespread or long-term damage to the environment being caused by those acts.

Since its legal definition in 2021, Ecocide is now recognised under the law in many countries, with the European Union requiring that member states include an offence 'comparable to ecocide' by the end of 2026.

Law experts from across Australia have entered the discussion to see how ecocide can be included in Australian law to effectively protect our environment from further harm.

Dr Kellie Toole is an expert on this subject. Fresh from presenting at the Conceptualizing Ecocide Conference in early October in Utrecht, Netherlands, she will lead this session on the bringing the law of ecocide to Australia as we pose the question: can the law save our planet?

This session is held at The Port Admiral Hotel beer garden, come early and grab a drink and stay after the presentation for dinner and further discussion. The Port Admiral Hotel menu is fully gluten free and includes vegan and vegetarian options.
