Join us for the next Gecko Talks event with guest speaker Michael Vella, Conservation Specialist at Currumbin Wildlife Sanctuary.

Michael has worked at Currumbin Wildlife Sanctuary for 17 years and brings more than 25 years of experience working in zoos and with wildlife. His work focuses on practical, hands-on conservation programs that support the protection and recovery of threatened species.

In this talk, Michael will share insights into some of the conservation programs he is involved in, including amphibian recovery work such as the breed-for-release program for the critically endangered Kroombit tinkerfrog. He will also speak about field-based conservation efforts and his work leading a conservation detector dog program, which supports species detection and other important conservation programs in the field.
